Some CG models

Here's a couple of CG models I created. These are NOT my designs, but rather they're based upon pre-existing artwork from another source. I just translated them into CG for use in a couple of game mods and for some modelling practice as well.

BTW, I REALLY wish you could have pictures like side by side on this thing. Would save oodles of space. Apparently blogspot isn't that smart.

Some chicks with guns WIP

This isn't really an update this is just me procrastinating doing work for five minutes. I think someone with the initials CL knows what I'm talking about. :D

Anyway. Here's another half-finished piece to go with my gallery of half-finished pieces. Maybe I should rename this place Brownie Minor's blog. ;)

Obviously I'm trying to learn photoshop here and not doing too badly but it's nothing to write home about. The chick on the left I realize looks a bit like a Half-Life 2 resistance fighter (colour-wise) but oh well. Her proportions are looking a bit odd to me at this point in time as well but could be worse (and has been).

ALSO - click on "Chun Li" on the right side of your screen to go and see Choom's new film :D. And if you haven't already click on "Fung Suije" and go see Belinda's somewhat-new film.

Spaceships yet again

Hey, might be doing a bit of interior book art for some buddies of mine so here's some spaceship concepts that I sketched up. Obviously my photoshop colouring skills are not up to task yet. Was looking for a tutorial on dA but couldn't find anything so I just winged it and didn't spend too much time on 'em.

Getty Gestures

I think the light finally clicked. After doodling during playblasts I went to getty images and started doodling some people from pictures. And realized that Lo and behold, that suddenly, I actually sorta understood what the heck I was doing. Of course, my drawings are still pretty crappy but finally people are slightly less embarrassing to draw and I'm finally drawing them with structure rather than just the outline.

Anyway . . . here are a few gestures I did from getty. Most of them are chicks, but there is a guy or two for the feminist out there. Also in the last image I re-drew an old character (though minus the clothes). I find that re-doing old drawings is one of the best ways to feel good about your improved abilities. Or just to ridicule your old abilities. Oh obviously the space man isn't off of getty, and obviously his left leg is too short. But for a random doodle I kinda like it.

PS - oh yes. No faces or hands as you may notice . . . well, one thing at a time.

Starship Work in progress

Here. See if you can even make this image out. I need to learn how to do proper "clay renders" in maya, because this quick cheater way that I found on the net looks like ass. (EDIT - screw it, I'm just going to screencap the thing in Maya. Not this "occlusion pass" crap where you can't tell anything.)

Anyway, here's some starship I'm working. I say starship because it's a ship, not a fighter. Even though most of my ships look like fighters. I have the basic shape of sorts, but now I have to figure out what details I'm putting on there. I should really plan this stuff out in advance. I got some stuff in my head, but there are some major details that I don't have so I should sketch some stuff out.

Obviously there are some major anime influences in there, and probably a bit of Naboo-style designs from Star Wars. But I've seen so many spaceships in my time there are probably a few different things in there as well.

Dunno how long I've spent on this. I take so many breaks it's hard to say. But at a guess we'll say . . .2-4 hours. Oh added one more little drawing at the bottom. That sketch is pretty much what I started from, though I didn't import it into Maya. Working with some big white blob on the screen is hard on the eyes. So I just winged it. Very professional. There a bunch of other sketches, of various angles, all of them crappy and very rough and not worth posting up. Anyway. Back at 'er.

Coal-Fueled Destruction

Yeah. So, I'm supposed to be working. Instead I waste an hour or two on this. I also put a gazillion doodles in my sketchbooks but never really do anything on the computer or add any sort of details. Even this is severely lacking the detail department but whatever. It's supposed to be sort of steam punk, hence the rivets and the smoke stacks but some parts probably look a little too tech.

Oh and I didn't go over it too much, so I'm sure the perspective and what not is all over the place. I just noticed that the left-arm ammo drum is way too damn small for example. . . .Whatever.
